(I still haven't tried to revive mine yet. Hell, Jack and I are technically still in Cerulean--we decided to stick around for two more nights at the B&B on the coast, to celebrate April 20th together and we're making one more stop before we leave...)
He sends a photo of the outside of the Gym.
I'm going to get cleared to Surf on Fail Whale today if it kills me.
Believe me, Tyler, if I come back without the badge, I'll be mocking *myself*.
That said, I'm fairly sure that Fangorn, with a little back-up from Charlotte, should mostly be able to handle her.
It's too bad that I already gave Armin his HMs back, or else you could teach him Fly, then go to either Violet or Celadon to get cleared for out of battle use. I guess you still can get the HM through fighting a gym—or maybe see if you can bully it out of Steve P. I know he offered to let me have his extras before prom, but that was before he decided that all he wanted to do was peep on people.
The Ruins of Alph? Yeah. I want to go there too. Maybe we can do a road trip later this year when it's actually reasonably warm if you think you can tolerate my company for that long and we can find someone to watch over Jack's/the jackhole longterm? Although I may or may not need to challenge the gym there at that point.
If I beat Misty (and I ought to, I have both type and level advantage), we're going to take a detour to Celadon for Flying clearance before going home. *That* one is going to be a little trickier, because it's Grass and I don't have anyone who specializes in Fire (I know, I know) but I think I can exploit the inherent vulnerability to Flying with my Woobat, even if he is underleveled. And except for her Jumpluff, the rest of Erika's team is also vulnerable to Bug, so I can use my Galvantula--who is, again, underleveled, but less so. And both are very *much* resistant to Grass, which might help them pull through.
Actually, huh, I'm looking it up, and Ox should be able to learn Fly on his own eventually. It'll just take fuck-long to do it naturally if he's still low-level.
I "tolerate" your company just fine, dude. You're the one who keeps finding new and exciting ways to piss me off. I would LIKE you if you somehow managed to not do that.
Honestly, you remind me of my ex like that.
Ox is only level 1 according to my Pokedex so Fly is a ways away yet, I'd rather get the HM if I can. Which I know the Violet Gym doesn't give away, but it's the local flight permission so it's just easier to get.
I mean, it's not like you've never remind me of *mine*.
Fuck. He didn't need to type that.
Well yeah, I'd assume you'd go there, since you missed the New Year's festival and couldn't pick up the warp to Celadon that way. I don't know what the fuck I'd do if it weren't for Ubird and special events--walking and camping is for people who aren't pushing forty.
Anyway. Cianwood and Saffron are the gyms that give out Fly. The first's fighting, with 'mons ranging from levels 50-55, and the second's psychic, with 'mons from 55-60. Cianwood might be slightly easier--though not as much of a curbstomp as it would be if you used your alternate team--although Saffron would be faster. The magnet train is six hours to Kanto, but the Ferry from Olivine to Cianwood is three days and even Surfing will take you two days. If it were *me*, I'd do Saffron, but you have more Johto warps than I do (read: any) and also, I have enough ghosts to easily handle Psychic gyms.
And yes, I *have* been thinking a lot about this shit. Part of the reason why Armin lent me his HMs was that we'd been going over the best possible routes for me to get Surf for Fail Whale after he evolved--because I have a certain need to ride the waters on the back of a forty foot whale, but I would have had to take off *so much work* just to get to Fuschia or Olivine.

There's no way for Steven to see how gleeful he looks about the notion, but it is very real.
If you come back without the badge I reserve the right to mock you.

I do want to go past Violet, though. I wanna check out the ruins there.
