Trust me, I understand the feeling - my own "I don't want people to know about this" got sent as TWO cards already. If it's any consolation, most of these cards are hard to tell whom they come from - yours just happened to be incredibly specific. Some of mine are very obvious, but I'd say half are ambiguous? Like there's this one about how I talk too much. I've no clue who that is from. And then Thace and I got identical ones about how everyone's too nice here, even the people who run Fight Club are nice and that's spooky—I've no *clue* who that one is from and honestly, whoever wrote it isn't considering that we run a business. It's called *customer service*.
There are many a person who dislike chatterboxes (like Geralt, for starters) - as a fellow conversationalist, allow me to express my sympathies. I've received that complaint quite often! It does make that particular card a tough guess - so many options to choose from!
I understand your confusion, Steven, and trust me when I say your conclusion got a chuckle out of me. But I can also understand where this person is coming from - in fact, I must agree with them. In my world, tavern owners wouldn't hesitate to yell at customers and the organizers behind shady activities like cockfighting definitely didn't know the meaning of "manners". The fact "customer service" is a thing in this realm in the first place speaks highly of its culture.

The truth is, running Fight Club was something I was never prepared for, nor was Thace. My friend Tyler was the original manager--we owned it together, but I had a day job with the Radio Tower in their newsroom. But, well, he disappeared (as did our investor, my ex-boyfriend) and it ended up in my hands--and since Thace and I had become lovers around the same time as Tyler disappeared, he ended up as a sort of business partner to the whole enterprise. But he was a soldier and I worked in television. We're mostly just working off Tyler's original business plans.
Who would've known such a violent place hid a story full of romance and heartbreak! So the responsibility fell on your lap, Steven, but the real question is: are you happy? Do you enjoy being the club manager? Are you doing it because you feel it's your obligation?
I... I think a fair bit of it is because it's my obligation, yes. Tyler and I started the Club. Now that he's gone, I owe it to him to keep it going. I'm not *un*happy, but it's not what I want to do forever. Honestly, I plan to train Chloe and Scorpia up so that they can take over for me at some point in the year ahead, so that Thace and I can travel. I know he doesn't mind denning in Goldenrod for the winter, even though his heart is on the road, and it's been my city this last year... but there's a lot about the city that reminds me of my ex- and that relationship didn't work out in the end. If he hadn't vanished, I'd have left within the week, probably.
I would protest against the idea of your accepting this responsibility merely because you felt obliged to, but it sounds like you're already taking care of that issue. I'd say it's a good compromise: you kept your friend's project and memory alive but you don't tie yourself to it (even if you probably extended how long that obligation lasted for much longer than I could've ever managed and I still think the whole concept is rather barbaric in the first place, but I digress).
That said, Thace has been incredibly patient, what a darling. You're truly lucky to have such an understanding man as your lover.
Well, it does help that *he* greatly enjoys Fight Club and in fact has been one of our regulars since the place opened.
He is, however, very darling, yes. And I think he's enjoying the domesticity we've fallen into since he came for lunch and never left. He was a soldier before this, so he hasn't had a lot of soft things in his life. I like giving them to him.
Ah! We've got something in common then - it's been exceedingly satisfying to treat Geralt to a life without danger and death, even if he's been rather stubborn about it. The fact he's allowed to do whatever he wants hasn't sunk in yet - or he hasn't let it, anyway. Same difference.
It sounds like Thace has embraced this new life, however. I must say, it makes me a bit envious that he's so open to it. Mayhap I should ask him for some advice later.
Oh gods, no wonder he has such views about this new life. I've heard the phrase "a second chance" used a lot by travelers around here, but it truly is literal for him. I'm even more glad he's embraced this life, then, instead of letting such an event get him down.
I can't think he's the only one who came here instead of dying, but yes. It really is his second chance at life and this world has brought him the most peace he's ever known.
