I mean, I didn't show up until early February, but from everything I've heard, this year is... special.
Oh, I should let you know if they haven't told you that the head office is going to want you in Goldenrod for tomorrow night, even though you've been scoping out Azalea. We're trying to go particularly big and loud there to distract from everywhere else and that means they want the best and brightest to play distraction. And that includes us.
Honestly, it's because we think outside the box. You've probably noticed that most of the local grunts still unconsciously follow certain 'rules' like only having your pokemon attack pokemon etc. Whereas we send our pokemon after trainers and straight up personally attack those trainers all the time--because unless they're from other worlds, they aren't going to *expect* getting punched.
And now I'm having to get used to it all over again, annoyingly enough, although the transition isn't quite as bad as it was the first time around, before I went home for six years.
So sometimes people will fall asleep for a week and while they do, their bodies age and their minds end up going home, where they don't remember the World of Pokemon at all. I did, for six years, but now I'm back.
That people can go home during a week-long coma like that? Semi-common. That I did... well, I did make a post about it, but it's fine if you missed it. Mostly it was Jules insulting my hair and Shinobu learning about gendered hair dye, which I don't actually need.
But yes. I went home for six years. Or my mind did. And hoo boy, did a lot of things change for me in those six years.
I think so? There were people I missed without even knowing I missed them. I'm glad to see them again. And I do like getting the chance to be a part of the team again, oddly enough. I've found I actually rather enjoy planning jobs, especially when I have a team with me, and I didn't really have anything like that at home, where I mostly work alone. The only time I'm not pursuing a target solo is during the Hunt of the Leaves, but that's traditionally a free-for-all, so it's not like I'd have a team then either.
[He's... not sure what the Hunt of the Leaves is, but with the amount of revelations he's had in this conversation, he's not sure if he wants to ASK, either.]
So... You like being a leader type?
[So, you know, maybe he can just take Important Notes About Coworkers.]
I mean, there's a reason I work so hard to get promoted within this organization, yes.
Though, ah, I don't technically *need* to be the boss in charge. The don, if we're using mafia terms instead of pokemafia. I'm perfectly happy with being a capo or the local equivalent. I just like having a team to work with and people I can rely on with me.
(Despite what fiction would have you believe, there aren't any secret modern day brotherhoods of assassins back home unless you're a vampire--and since the vampires had their quiet apocalypse, there's not even that. There's not even usually two man teams. It's very much a solo job in the 21st century. You might have back-up, but that's different than having someone there with you.)
[He WAS wondering if Steven might be more the "capo" type... but he wasn't sure if using the specific terminology was a good idea. It's not like people here NEED to know what he did back home, so he's better off not saying anything that might raise suspicions...
Anyway, he's about to ask Steven if he likes mafia movies or something, haha, when he starts talking about fucking VAMPIRES.]
I didn't think assassin brotherhoods were real or anything, no

I think I can warp back there.

Hey
Do you think they actually think we're that good, or are the local grunts just kind of bad at their jobs?

Still miss my gun, though.

That's insane! That's...
[He is not REMOTELY ready to consider the spacetime implications of this. Or maybe even smart enough for it.]
Is THAT common knowledge???

That must feel...
really weird.
Being gone for so long, and then when you come back only one week has passed...

It was a good six years, though. I learned a lot while I was home.

Are you fine with being back here though?
I mean, after so long...

And I suppose that since the vampires are gone, they aren't again.
Nobody tell Ubisoft.
