Okay. Okay. So. The problem is that Jack... gets kind of weird about people he doesn't know about staying at his house. So I can't let you stay here right now. I could probably pay for a night or two to put you up at an inn, but. If he's going to be pissy longer...
[He thinks about Fight Club and-- no. He doesn't know if Tyler's at Lydia's tonight or not, but if he isn't, it would be rude to send some guy he doesn't like to crash in the bar.]
Okay. So. Remember that thing we talked about at your house--Hades' house--the other day? And how I said you'd get free room and board from them if you joined?
We could do *that*. And then you won't have to worry about food or a place to sleep--or what to do for lab space either.
Okay. I'm looking up places you can stay tonight right now. There's one pretty close to the beach, the Komaladay Inn?
Not sure how to solve the problem of clothing. Maybe see if the Universes are still around? I thought I saw Rose Universe around at the beach—she's the one with all that pink hair—I sell berry weed to her husband—anyway, she's the only other person that I know of that's as big as you.
I'm going to check with Estinien to see if he'd be willing to sneak into Hades' house to get your shit if I get things unlocked for him. I feel like maybe he'd get in less trouble if he's caught in there than I would.
[About a minute later he adds:]
Actually, see if there's any Ubird flyers still at the beach, first, and if there are, see if one is willing to be paid when you reach Goldenrod. Because otherwise we'll have to take the long route for getting you back from Fuschia.
Yeah. I'm talking to him now too in a separate DM.
She's really easy to find. Just look for someone eight feet tall with a lot of pink hair. (I don't think I've ever really talked to her personally, just Mr Universe in the course of selling to him, but after a while you learn who the other people from other worlds are.)
And re: the Ubirds: good. Good. Because Jack and I had already left the beach by the time you messaged me, so it's not like we could have given you a lift back to Goldenrod.
Ah, that's a good question. I'd tell you to meet me at the 24-hour diner near the Tower, but there's that whole 'no shirt no shoes no service' thing. Maybe the beach? Hopefully Estinien will have liberated some clothes for you by then, so we can at least make you decent.
I'll get you cash for your first night at the inn and then I'll talk to Jack about what else we can do to help you. Maybe I can persuade him to let you bed down somewhere out of the way for the subsequent nights. He'd be glad to know that you're working on better drugs, at least--you know, he was the one to first get *me* high? I'd never done it back home because it was terribly illegal for most of my life and I used to be very... cautious about those things.
I don’t have any Pokémon on my person, so it would be foolish for me to try to move around on my own. The rider is asking for an address and he’s losing his patience. What’s your address?
Your husband should be happy to know that I’ve nearly worked out the Gloom hallucinogen extraction.
Jesus Christ, Hades really did leave you high and dry. What an *asshole*.
[Also it still gives Steven a happy little shiver to read Hythlo calling Jack his husband.]
And Jack *will* be happy to hear about that. Holy shit, you work fast. Do you need me to get Estinien to grab anything *else* from the House of Hades for you? Pokemon, equipment, notes?
(Any chance of anything interesting being ready within the next week, pending getting you the right equipment? Jack's birthday is a week from tomorrow.)
Oh, no, I should be able to transcribe them from memory easily enough. It is hardly anything so complicated. I am waiting for Estinien to bring back a couple Oddish for me. Surely a few generations down the line of selective genetics should produce something even better.
There should be minimal unintended side effects as it is. I do have some equipment at home, but I'm not about to have Estinien dropping my centrifuge while balancing glass flasks.
His tantrum shouldn't last more than three days, as I said. There should be plenty of time for compounding.
[He leaves the comments about whether or not Hades is an asshole alone for now. Because the answer is yes, he is. But Hades definitely learned some things from him. So.]
I suppose you'd be the expert when it comes to his tantrums.
If we're lucky, Estinien might have those Oddish when we meet him to get your clothes.
Also--you know how you're going to help me with making that cake for Jack? Do you think we could, ah, adulterate it with your hallucinogen? Pending it being ready and already tested. Because I think he'd love that.

[He understands Jack's thing, but.]
He won't stay angry for more than a day or so anyway...

Do we need someone to steal your clothes from Hades' house so you'll have something to wear tomorrow?
no subject
And... Possibly. I doubt I will be tolerated for very long in my state of undress.

I can talk to them on voice if we need me to.

In the meantime, I will ask this Rose Universe for something I might be able to borrow...
I will go search for the Ubirds and respond once I have an answer.

[A couple moments pass.]
I think she left already.
Say, how hot do you think the pavement in Goldenrod right now, if you had to estimate?

Worst case scenario, steal some beach towels and improvise wraps for your feet.

...One moment. It seems like the last of the Ubirds will be leaving soon. Where should I meet with you?
