When Balam hatched from the egg Steven got from Catra, he was delighted to finally make a ghost friend of his own. He managed to get one of his co-workers to try on his tiny friend's mask for him, which is how he learned his new friend's name--as well that he'd been a hunter and a warrior in life.

After Balam expressed his wish not to forget who he once was, Steven bought him an everstone.

His ability is Mummy. Contact with him will change the abilties of other pokemon to Mummy as well. His nature is Brave; he's highly persistant. Hatched from an egg given to him by Catra.
