But yes, that approach tends to work better with humans. Humans are a more prosocial species than trolls. Friendliness, coupled with a stated desire to help, tends to reassure humans. From a human perspective, it appeared you were responding much more hostilely than it would from the troll perspective.

However, I wouldn't use myself to calibrate normal human reactions from, if I were you. Use Steve (no 'n') Palchuk, if you must. He's probably the member of our Team closest psychologically to baseline human, even if he's still a kid and doesn't know how to use his brain yet.
