And yeah. I hope she does too. And I hope that [Emet-Selch he starts to type, but then he backspaces] Solus is right in his theory that we're just copies of ourselves in a virtual environment... it might be stupid, but I'd rather Raphtalia has been temporarily put into data storage without consciousness than that she's gone back into slavery, never knowing that for a few, brief months she was our little girl.
[Even just thinking about it makes him want to strangle that Naofumi of hers with his bare hands.]
[Thace sounds very happy, and unless Steven dodges out of the way he's going to grab his partner up into a crushing hug, spin him around and give him happy kisses and nuzzles.]
A brother Blade has arrived. Ulaz! Oh, I can't wait for you to meet him. Would you like to come? I'm picking him up with Zirthe.
[That's all said in a happy rush in between kisses.]
[Thace is grinning as he sets Steven down and kisses him once more.]
You do look so fetching in my gifts, so one reason to appreciate the cold.
[This year's Christmas gift included a commissioned hat and scarf with familiar purple to create tassels that match the zipper pulls on the coat. He's grabbing his own coat and scarf all the same while doing a quick poll of his Pokemon to narrow down who's coming with.]
Don't worry. Vonir and I will make sure you stay nice and warm on the flight.
[One benefit to a nice fluffy fire type, at least? Looks like Athvrix, Vruli, and the baby shiny Honedge are coming along too. With Vrig being a foregone conclusion and Zirthe being the transport.]
I was planning on flying mostly. It allows us to spend as much time as we want in certain areas-- I suspect Ulaz might enjoy visiting the Ruins, or the library-- while still only actually camping perhaps once or twice.
[Thace is busy packing a few things. Books about Pokemon, and about Johto, and snacks for people and Pokemon. Seems like as much as he enjoys camping, he is planning on them staying in towns or he'd have packed more heavily.]
And I'm glad as ever you're willing to meet me too, my hunter. Perhaps we can return to that tree hotel in Sevii sometime. I think it quite suited both my enjoyment of the outdoors and yours of comfortable lodgings.
[Steven laughs.] I'd love that, actually. It was one of my favorite trips together with you... not the least because it was our first and one of my nicer birthdays.
Then we should definitely do it again. Anniversary trip, perhaps? Maybe a little longer, if we can manage it. I'd like to do little jaunts of exploring with the hotel as a base of operations.
[Steven chuckles.] That, I don't know. It's supposedly a very Sinnoh recipe--but if nothing else, maybe I can try to find us a recipe and improvise something when we get back.
Homemade does sound delightful if we can locate a recipe. I've been wondering if I haven't gotten enough experience to try to recreate some Galran dishes. Perhaps not quite yet, but it's been on my mind. I'd love to try to create for you what's been lost. For both of us, really.
I like making them for you and I like that I know how to make them now--especially since I spent most of my life not being able to do anything but the most basic of bachelor cookery. I'm glad I finally did learn and that I've helped you learn too.
Of course there had been a few things on the agenda when they'd finally woken up in their natural bodies again, but Thace had urged Steven to go out and collect some glamour and connect with friends for the day. Something about a surprise.
He's been cooking a lot, lately. More than what they'd need for just themselves--explaining that offering leftovers to passing strangers has connotations of both generosity, and a pre-emptive showing of strength rather than a more familial preparation of a whole meal.
Of course, they've also been experiments. And when Steven manages to will his way back to their apartment through the usual shenanigans of weird weekends, the apartment is full of a spicy, meaty aroma. Thace is in the kitchen, mixing up more of the super spicy salad dressing he's discovered he quite likes and looks up, beaming. "Steven! I think I've gotten it. A special stew especially for lovers. It's almost ready."
"Oh?" Steven asks, as he slips off his shoes near the door and slips on his house slippers. He sniffs the air. "It smells good," he says, after a moment. "Did you have to make substitutions?"
He's almost certain Thace did, given that he's assuming this is a traditional Galra recipe, which is what it sounds like. But part of being a reporter is asking those leading questions that you're pretty sure you can guess the answers to and early training shows.
Thace makes a soft warbling sound to welcome Steven home, leaning towards him, even though he doesn't abandon his task. Steven will come over, he's sure.
"Quite a few. I'm fairly certain the taste isn't the same as if it was artavok meat, but the closest species on this planet would be Tyrantrum, most likely, and well..."
Thace lets the silence speak for him. He'd never even consider trying to kill a Pokemon just for accuracy.
"I decided pheasant had the best flavor, but goose was better for size of the organ meats that are meant to be included, so I mixed."
